LOGIN userid LOGIN allows you access to the system if you have a valid acount. 'userid' is either your last name, or a UIC with the two numbers separated by either a comma (,) or a slash (/). The square brackets ([]) are optional for this command. After entering your userid, you will be prompted for your password. The password will not echo on the your terminal. You can enter the password on the same line as the LOGIN command by preceding it with a slash, but your password will be echoed. If the userid and password are valid, you will be logged on the system. The login message file, LB:[1,2]LOGIN.TXT, will be printed on your terminal, unless you entered 'userid' as a UIC separated by a slash, in which case only the most recent messages will be printed. If you have a login command file (LOGIN.CMD) in your directory, it will then be executed. LOGIN and HELLO are identical, but LOGIN does not work on systems without DCL.
