Erskine College MAIL Help: The system will alert you if you have new mail when you log in. Type MAIL/R to read new mail. Use option U for a list of possible addresses. You can type just a few characters of the addressee's name (See the "Fra" for "Franklin" in the examples below.) To send mail, you must create your message using either EDIT (EDT) or WORD-11. There are fewer steps if you use EDIT. File names for both EDIT and WORD-11 P DT must be formed using from one to six letters or numbers plus ".TMP". Here are a few examples of good EC MAIL file names: AMANDA.TMP 1.TMP TOVPS.TMP 007.TMP REPLY.TMP YNOT.TMP The following is an EDIT example: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- EDIT DAD.TMP Don't forget to bring us some used computer paper. We want to color some pictures tonight! Love, Mandy and Jimmy {Gold-File or Ctrl/Z Exit} $ MAIL/S DAD Send to? Fra Send to [11,8] Franklin ? Message delivered X $ DEL/ER DAD.TMP ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you use WORD-11, you have a few more steps to do. Note: Underlined or bold words will lose those special attributes when transmitted by EC MAIL. Here is the WORD-11 example: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- $ WORD C Message to Daddy Don't forget to bring us some used computer paper.
