My name is John Garner, and I am (wait for it!) an undergraduate student, currently studying towards a BSc in Computer Science at Kent University (or UKC as we call it for short). I am in my first year as of October 1994.
Apart from Computers, my hobbies include Badminton, campanology (thats the technical word for bellringing), and the odd bit of sailing. Computer-wise, the only ones I really use are Spectrums (well what else is there?!) and PC's (for doing work on mainly / transferring Spectrum stuff!).
If you should feel the need, you can email me (jmg7@ukc.ac.uk) or even write to me at the address below (although it has to be forwarded to my university address to start with)
I have owned a Spectrum since June 1988, when my first +2A arrived
home one evening, somewhat unexpectedly earlier than I thought.
Then of course I knew nothing about how long I would still be using
it, or that I'd end up writing demos and other things on it.
More recently the collection has grown although peripherals such
as a 9-pin printer were added quite quickly (in order, so he told
his parents, that he could print out coursework on it! Did he ever?!).
Currently the list stands at (in chronological order):
For those interested, I've also got the tape/ sound socket on the back plugged into my mini-hi-fi which is rather a lot better than a TV! Best of both worlds, there.
For my software collection among others, see the list of PD demos I have, or the seperate games, utilities or miscellaneous lists (not as big though).
Now a short request, in case you can help - I'm looking for a video digitizer of some sort - either Videoface or Vidi-ZX. Any offers (must be cheap ie less than 10 GB Pounds) gladly considered. I'm quite happy with my collection otherwise though, so no, I won't sell any of the above in case you are wondering, especially not the +D or +2A.
However much it may seem like it, I am not an advertiser or connected in any way other than those stated (if there are any) with or for any of the services or clubs contained within these documents and although he would rather like to be under someone else's payroll, the money-box remains rather empty at present. Neither is he in anyway performing any activities for Kent University on a paid basis, his opinions stated represent only his own and if you want to complain, .... ... Don't. Well do it kindly if at all possible please. Not that you would anyway :-)
The order in which he places clubs, people and groups in his documents is entirely arbitrary and has absolutely no meaning whatsoever to his opinion or the skills of those involved. Except when the lists are in alphabetical order, or otherwise stated, of course.
Any errors within said documents are natural human errors which will be corrected as soon as is realistically possible and anyone knows anything about them. Any errors you may get from your Web-server/cache are entirely out of my bounds to fix, and I don't know of any parts which could cause problems - the links have been checked at my university using local files, however nothing is guaranteed under the site they currently reside at although I'm sure the 'webmaster' does their best to ensure they are kept working.
