PD Demos listing
Here follows some of the PD demos and other similar software that
I own, and a few others too depending on what I've bothered to type
up. I hope that it will also sometime contain most of the programs
available altogether in PD - although that depends largely on
which PD libraries (if any) are willing to send me a text file
of all their programs, and other people keeping me up to date.
There are rather a large number of PD programs existing on the Spectrum, so
even this list is but a small proportion of the population.
The utilities listing is seperate, as is
the games listing and other
things.
KEY TO TYPES
* = Snapshot (so +D/Spectrum-emulator required)
# = Available via ftp as a .SNA or .Z80 ZIPped snapshot from various sites
128 = Needs a 128K Spectrum/emulator which does it ie a 128/+2/+3/+2A or Z80
emulator/XZX?
(YS)=Copied from a "Your Sinclair" magazine covertape (or sometimes "Sinclair
User") and not easily convertible - only some of them work on snapshots.
If there's no @ and no # by a program then it looks like there's no
chance of obtaining it unless you write to a PD library and request
it, even less chance on an emulator unless you can get some
kind soul to snap it and send it to you or upload it to an ftp
site somewhere you can get to.
I will also warn the unwary - some demos use rather rude language,
in the names and some in the scroller texts, so either don't download any or
don't care or avoid the section of the list beginning with 'f' and other
such things although there are a few others scattered liberally around.
Don't complain to me - I don't write these demos and am only providing as
non-biased a list as I can. Apart from the fact they are mainly just the
ones I own!
Oh, and the ones that say 128 in the name are usually for the
128K computers (or emulators that can do them), not that they are
128K exactly in size. I have tried to provide some information
about some of the demos, such as the name of the group or person
who wrote it (in brackets after the name) and after that a brief
description of it sometimes. If you have any suggestions to make
- whether it would be better implemented as something other than
a bunch of 'ordered lists' (using - item
), feel free to make them via email or write to me. It could probably
be better represented as a <table>, but I'm not sure it will
be accepted by all browsers and I don't really know how to create
one of those...

Got any others?
Thats all at the moment until I get down to writing down that MASSIVE
list from Alchemist Research (only a few thousand!). There are still a
large number to be added to this list. If you know of other PD demos/
utilities/ etc that are preferably not on any of the PD libraries lists,
please let me know of them and I will put them in here.
And then send them to a library and to me! (If you have them). I
am always glad to receive letters/ emails from fellow Spectrum users, and in
particular if you are interested in demos or a coder or +D owner.
A greet now, (as is want of demo writers :-). Hi to all real Spectrum
owners with or without a +D disk system and anyone else interested,
I'm always looking for new contacts for swapping demos and other
stuff and just generally to write silly letters to.
If you send me a blank disk (or - arrgh - tape) and SAE, with a
nice letter, I might copy you loads of stuff depending on what
you are interested in.
