The following definitions are used in this program. HP Btu H2O Hg %P0% %C%%H2%Running UNITS%H2% To run UNITS, simply load it into basic and run it. The program will read in the data file, then ask for the type of conversion, (linear, area, volume, etc.). Simply hit the key corresponding to the desired choice. Hitting the space bar will end the program. Once a category has been selected, a listing of units will be displayed, they are selected in a similar fashion, by hitting the key corresponding to the unit displayed. Hitting the space bar will take you back to the main menu. There are three conversion options available, when you first enter the units page the current option will be listed on the top line of the screen, to change the option simply hit the numeric key corresponding to the option. The current option setting remains in effect till the program is ended. %H2%Option 1 : Display Unit Definition%H2% %H2%Option 2 : Compute Conversion Factor%H2% %H2%Option 3 : Convert Data%H2% %CO:B,6,60% Mechanical horsepower International Steam Table Btu Density taken at triple point Density taken at 0 degrees C This option displays a "common" definition of the unit selected. For example 1 gallon is 4 quarts. This is not necessarily the legal definition of the unit, but is how it is defined in the data file. This option computes a numerical conversion factor from the first unit chosen to the second. Once the first unit has been chosen, the top line will change to 1 {selected unit} is, then wait for the selection of a second unit. The conversion factor is then displayed and the program waits for another initial unit, there is no need to hit a key to continue. This option evaluates expressions in one unit, and displays the numerical conversion to a second unit. Once the initial unit has been selected, the top line changes to "Convert from {selected unit} to " and the program waits for the selection of a second unit. Once a second unit has been selected, the top line will change to "{selected unit} ?" and the program will wait for input. Hitting Enter with no data will exit at this point, typing any valid expression will cause the program to evaluate the expression, and display the result in converted units. After the display, any key can be hit to return to the "{selected units} ?" prompt. %CO:C,56,57% Z180A - this file, documentation for the UNITS program. Z180B - the actual UNITS program.
