Z88 PC Support Utilities                                         Simon Phipps

The attached utilities allow use of a PC to backup-up a Z88 without
the need for a PC-Link EPROM.  The built-in Imp-Exp pop-up is used,
and files are stored in a format suitable for direct import back into
the Z88.  It is also possible to strip all Imp-Exp control information
out of files for use on a PC.


ZR   -   Z88 Receive Program
----------------------------
OVERVIEW:
This program receives one or more files from the Z88.  It stores them
in a file on the PC, and also constructs a very compact directory
which is stored with the file.  The resulting 'Tank' file may be transmitted
straight back to Imp-Exp if required.

USAGE:
ZR <Tank filename> [<port no>]

The default port number is 1 i.e. COM1 is used.  Ensure that both
the PC and the Z88 are using the same communications parameters with
the MODE command in DOS.


ZL   -   Z88 Tank List
----------------------
OVERVIEW:
This program displays the conents of a Tank file, optionally with
line numbers beside the file names.

USAGE:
ZL <Tank filename> [/N]


ZM   -   Z88 Tank File Merge
----------------------------
OVERVIEW:
This program combines two tank files to give a third tank file, and
merges their directories (duplicate filenames are allowed).

USAGE:
ZM <Tank 1> <Tank 2> <New Tank>



ZX   -   Z88 Tank File Extract
------------------------------
OVERVIEW:
This program copies a single Z88 file out of a Tank file to a DOS
file, optionally converting to DOS format and optionally copying an
Imp-Exp 'End Batch' after the file.  A COM port may be specified as
the destination file in order to send the file back to the Z88 (in
which case specify the /Z option).

USAGE:
ZX <Tank file> <DOS file> <search string> [/<options>]
The search string is not case dependent and any Z88 file name containing
the string will be matched.

OPTIONS:  (may be combined)
/Z      Append <ESC>Z to DOS file
/D      Strip out Imp-Exp escape sequences to make a DOS file
/C      Ask for confirmation that the correct file has been found
Note that /ZD is an illegal combination.


ZI   -   Z88 Tank File Index Builder
------------------------------------
OVERVIEW:
This program indexes (or re-indexes) a Z88 Tank file.  It would be
used if a file had been manually added to a tank, or if a tank was
received from the Z88 without using ZR.

USAGE:
ZI <Source tank> <Target tank>
