What is available?
There are a large number of Public Domain BBC disc images on the 8BS website. There are many other downloads of things such as game maps and walkthroughs that I have made available. Around 1200 discs of software are available for download from here FREE! Please remember to show your appreciation by emailing me or signing the guest book. Thanks to the many people who have already emailed me their appreciation!

Examine the 8BS Catalogue to see what is available.

Most of the disc images have been read in to the PC from 80 track BBC discs

The disc images available are in zipped .dsd, .ssd or .adl format
.dsd are interleaved double sided DFS disc images
.ssd are single sided DFS disc images
.adl are interleaved ADFS L  images

What Can You Do With The Images?

  • You can use the images in a PC BBC emulator, or write the images to a BBC formatted floppy disc for use on a BBC
  • The program FDC will write these images back to a BBC disc
  • The program BBCIM, will split the images up into files or convert the image into other formats
  • Xfer will transfer the images to a BBC via a serial link
  • Most BBC emulators will recognise the images as BBC discs. Also see the disc image info page.
  • How do I get the ADFS version?
If you click on the catalogue number, you will then be prompted to download the file. Usually, the images will be of DFS discs. Sometimes there is also an ADFS version of the disc available. If this is the case, you will notice that the 'A' in the 'format' column is turned into a link which if you click on will prompt you to download the ADFS image. If the disc is only available as ADFS, then the catalogue number will lead you to the ADFS image.
